Soar Through Your Exams and Tournaments Like a Blue Angel! ✈️

This content was inspired by a post from “Win Back Time: A Military Efficiency Think” on LinkedIn.  Thanks Juliet Funt Sharing post.

Have you ever seen the amazing Blue Angels fly? They are a team of super-skilled pilots who fly incredibly fast jets, doing amazing stunts in the sky. It looks like magic, but their secret isn’t magic at all—it’s practice, and not just in the air!

Imagine this: Before a big show, the pilots don’t just jump into their jets. They do something called “chair flying.”

What is that? It’s exactly what it sounds like. They sit in a chair, close their eyes, and mentally fly the entire mission. They imagine every single detail: the takeoff, the twists and turns, the precise timing of their movements, and the perfect landing.

Why do they do this? Because their brains are incredible! When you vividly imagine something, your brain can’t always tell the difference between the mental rehearsal and the real thing. It’s like you’re actually doing it, even though you’re sitting still.

In the Guard, every day is a chance to push your limits and become the best version of yourself. Whether you’re responding to natural disasters or defending our nation, you’re part of something bigger. Rise to the challenge. Be the difference. Be Guard strong. –  Army National Guard

How can this help YOU?

You might not be flying a jet, but you have your own important missions: exams, sports tournaments, music recitals, or even a tricky presentation at school. Just like the Blue Angels, you can use chair flying to get ready.

Think about your next big test or competition. Take just two minutes and close your eyes.

  • See it in your mind: Imagine yourself sitting in the classroom. What does the room look like? What does the test paper look like? See yourself answering each question calmly and confidently.
  • Hear it in your mind: If it’s a presentation, hear yourself speaking clearly and with a strong voice. If it’s a sports game, hear the sound of the ball, the swish of the net, or the cheers of the crowd.
  • Feel it in your mind: Feel the confidence as you write your answers. Feel yourself responding to questions with precision and ease. Feel the satisfaction of finishing and knowing you did your best.

By doing this, you’re training your brain for success. When the real moment comes, it will feel familiar. It’s like you’ve already been there and aced it. You’ve already practiced responding to the tough questions and handling the pressure.

So, the next time you feel nervous about a big event, remember the Blue Angels. Find a quiet spot, sit down, close your eyes, and take just two minutes to “chair fly” your way to victory.

You’ve got this! Now go out there and perform like you’ve already been there. Because mentally, you have!
