Your Mind is Your Battlefield: How to Be a Strategic Thinker in a Digital World

I recently read a powerful article by Noel DeJesus, “Watches, Words, and the Warfighter,” that got me thinking about how we navigate the digital world. He talks about how a soldier’s watch and writing are tools for readiness—one for mastering time, the other for mastering ideas.

This hit me as a perfect metaphor for social media. It’s so easy to lose track of time and just scroll without a purpose. We need to be intentional.

My take on it? Our mindfulness is our watch—it keeps us grounded in the moment. And our critical thinking is our writing—it helps us challenge what we see and shape our own narratives.

It’s a reminder that we have the power to take back control of our time and our thoughts. It’s all about being a strategic thinker in a digital world.

What do you do to stay focused and intentional online?
